CX2033-0161 by Beckhoff

The CX2033-0161 is an embedded PC supplied by Beckhoff within the CX Embedded PC Systems series. It connects directly to DIN-rail power terminals and runs TwinCAT or other real-time control software that coordinates motion, visualization, and fieldbus communication in automated machinery. By combining industrial-grade processing with onboard I/O power pins, the unit removes the need for a separate industrial PC and streamlines cabinet layouts for midsized production cells.

This controller uses 2 CPU cores from an AMD Ryzen V1202B 2.3 GHz processor, providing deterministic multitasking for PLC logic and HMI processes. System performance is supported by 8 GB of DDR4 RAM and a 128 kB NOVRAM block that retains process counters during power loss. Graphics are rendered by an AMD Radeon Vega 3 engine and delivered through DVI-D at resolutions up to 1920 × 1200 pixels. The front panel has four USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports that supply 900 mA each for service tools or vision sensors. Two integrated RJ45 Ethernet jacks rated for 10/100/1000 Mbit/s support EtherCAT or standard TCP/IP connections. An I/O supply current of 2 A on the multi-pin terminal powers attached Bus Terminal slices without requiring external feeders.

Total power consumption is capped at 42 W, and the power contacts can switch up to 10 A for field actuators routed through the terminal chain. Internal circuits provide a dielectric strength of 500 V between logic and field potentials, helping protect the controller from transient line disturbances. The housing measures 144 × 99 × 91 mm, allowing it to share an enclosure with drives, relays, and other control equipment. A hardware-based fTPM 2.0 secure element protects encryption keys and supports platform security functions. The fan-assisted cooling path removes heat from internal components during continuous operation.
