The CX2030-0100-1001 is an embedded PC module manufactured by Beckhoff for the CX Embedded PC Systems series. This DIN-rail device serves as the central controller in industrial automation lines, executing PLC logic, motion commands, and visualization tasks within one compact housing. By coupling directly to Beckhoff's EtherCAT or Bus Terminal I/O assemblies, it replaces separate rack PCs and stand-alone PLCs to streamline cabinet layouts and reduce wiring effort.

Inside the housing, the embedded PC runs on an Intel Core i7-2610UE dual-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz. The system has 2 GB of DDR3 RAM for program execution and data buffering, while 128 kB of NOVRAM retains variables during voltage interruptions. A 128 MB graphics memory supports a local HMI connection through optional DVI or DisplayPort interfaces. The control electronics operate from a 24 V DC supply, and internal converters keep power consumption below 27 W at full load. Dielectric strength of 500 V protects the logic circuits from transients on the supply line. The 144 × 99 × 91 mm enclosure fits alongside standard I/O terminal blocks without exceeding the cabinet depth.

Front-panel interfaces facilitate field integration. Two onboard Ethernet controllers provide 2 × RJ45 connectors that automatically negotiate network speeds of up to 10/100/1000 Mbit/s for PLC networking or IT traffic. The unit has 4 × USB 2.0 Type-A ports that deliver 500 mA each for service keyboards, flash storage, or wireless adapters. Current limiting helps isolate peripheral faults from the controller. The enclosure has an IP20 protection rating, so the unit must be installed inside a closed electrical cabinet with controlled dust and humidity. The available network and peripheral connections support communication with control equipment, data systems, and local service devices.
