Intended for embedded PLC platforms, the device adds serial connectivity so a CPU module can exchange data with barcode scanners, weighing scales, and legacy controllers that rely on asynchronous links. The module occupies a position on the system bus next to the CPU, expanding connectivity without requiring external gateways. This arrangement keeps communication wiring confined to the DIN-rail area and reduces the number of separate devices needed inside the control cabinet.

The module provides two COM ports that comply with the RS-232 standard, allowing point-to-point communication with compatible equipment. Data connections are made through two 9-pin D-Sub plugs, with each connector supporting the signal arrangement needed for hardware handshaking. Operating power is supplied through the system bus, so separate supply conductors are not required during installation. The module tolerates ambient humidity of up to 95% non-condensing, supporting operation in control environments where humidity may vary without forming condensation. Its compact enclosure preserves space for neighboring CX modules and maintains an orderly arrangement along the DIN rail.
