CX1020-N010 by Beckhoff

The CX1020-N010 is a compact expansion module produced by Beckhoff for the CX Embedded PC Systems series. It attaches to a CX1020 CPU base unit and provides a dedicated display and peripheral interface so that the embedded controller can drive a local operator panel or remote monitor within an industrial automation cell. By adding video output and USB ports through the system bus, the module allows machine builders to connect human-machine interfaces without installing a separate graphics card or external hub.

The housing has a depth of 51 mm, and its front panel carries a DVI-I 29-pin socket that supports both analog and digital signals for flexible panel selection. Beckhoff groups this connector with an interface set consisting of 1 x DVI + 2 x USB 2.0, allowing a touchscreen and service drive to operate simultaneously. A maximum cable length of 5 m is supported between the DVI port and the display; beyond that distance, signal repeaters are required. Each USB receptacle is limited to a source current of 100 mA, so low-power keyboards, mice, or memory devices can be powered directly. Two Type-A USB sockets provide the physical connections, and VGA monitors are also supported through the DVI-A pins. The integrated beeper provides basic acoustic feedback for alarms or operator prompts.

The enclosure is rated IP20, and its width of 19 mm keeps the overall CX1020 assembly narrow on a DIN rail. Electromagnetic immunity and emissions comply with EN 61000-6-2 / EN 61000-6-4, while mechanical endurance complies with EN 60068-2-6 / EN 60068-2-27/29 for vibration and shock in control cabinets. The overall height is 100 mm, matching the profile of the CPU slice. Power is drawn internally through the system bus, eliminating the need for separate wiring.
