CX1010-N010 by Beckhoff

The CX1010-N010 is an embedded PC module produced by Beckhoff within the CX Embedded PC Systems series. Designed as a compact control computer, it mounts directly alongside DIN-rail I/O terminals and executes PLC programs, motion logic, and visualization tasks for industrial automation equipment. By integrating PC-class processing with fieldbus connectivity in a housing that is only 19 mm wide, the unit consolidates control and visualization processing in space-restricted control cabinets.

The front panel provides a DVI-I 29-pin connector for monitor output and two USB 2.0 Type-A ports for external peripherals. Operating power is supplied through the system bus, so no individual supply cable is required when the module is connected to the CX base section. Backplane communication with extension cards occurs through an internal PC/104 interface that transfers data between the module and the host system. Each downstream USB channel is limited to 100 mA per port, protecting the motherboard from overcurrent loads caused by incompatible flash drives or service adapters. The housing has an IP20 rating, which provides protection against contact with large solid objects but does not provide protection against water. The module is therefore intended for installation inside a suitable control cabinet in a dry indoor location.

The module measures 19 × 100 × 51 mm, allowing multiple units to reside side by side within a standard enclosure depth. Continuous operation is permitted at a relative humidity of up to 95% without condensation, supporting use in humid production areas when moisture does not accumulate on the circuits. For legacy projectors or KVM switches, analog video can be extracted through the DVI-I socket's DVI-A pins, enabling compatibility without separate VGA hardware.
