The C6640-0030 is an industrial PC manufactured by Beckhoff and supplied under the C6 Industrial PC Units series. As a modular computing core for machine controllers, it hosts real-time operating systems and fieldbus interfaces that coordinate motion, logic, and visualization tasks on the factory floor. The unit mounts inside a control cabinet, where its processing resources can replace traditional PLC hardware while accommodating standard PC peripherals. Its modular architecture also supports the interface and storage hardware required for demanding automation applications.

Its steel chassis measures 371 × 336 × 198 mm, allowing cabinet designers to account for its depth and required ventilation clearances. A mass of 11 kg distributes the equipment weight across suitable shelf brackets or mounting hardware without exceeding typical enclosure load ratings. The enclosure is rated at IP20, which protects internal components against solid objects larger than 12.5 mm but does not provide protection against liquids. Installation should therefore remain limited to clean, dry indoor areas. During handling and transportation, the internal components tolerate mechanical shocks of up to 5 g, helping protect drives and add-in cards from impact damage. Network connectivity is provided through two Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 ports that can support segmented production networks or separate control and plant connections. Two DVI outputs, one DisplayPort output, three analog audio jacks, and two PS/2 connectors accommodate standard display, audio, keyboard, and mouse hardware.

System expansion is based on an ATX mainboard that provides four USB host channels for removable media, barcode scanners, security devices, and other compatible peripherals. The board includes two DRAM SODIMM sockets, allowing memory capacity to be increased when application code, visualization projects, or image buffering requires additional resources. Legacy field equipment can communicate through one RS-232 port without an external converter. Data storage is provided by a 3.5-inch hard disk, which offers space for recipes, operating logs, archived process information, and vision data sets. The computer tolerates up to 95% noncondensing relative humidity, supporting operation in a range of controlled industrial environments. Its combination of standard PC connections and industrial mounting features allows it to serve as a cabinet-based platform for machine control and visualization software.
