It serves as the central computing platform for real-time PLC software, consolidating motion control, data acquisition, and HMI services in a single industrially hardened enclosure.

The unit uses passive cooling, so it has no internal fans; heat dissipates through the aluminum housing, reducing the number of moving parts that could fail. The chassis measures 330 × 275 × 82 mm, providing a footprint that fits shallow control cabinets while leaving room for cable bends. A DVI display interface supplies digital video to external panels without analog conversion. Networking is handled through two RJ-45 sockets that operate at 100/1000BASE-T, allowing Fast Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet connections to plant switches. The enclosure provides IP65 protection outside and IP20 protection inside, meaning the externally accessible components resist dust and low-pressure water jets while the internal electronics rely on cabinet protection. A 16 A input fuse protects the supply path, and the eight-pole power connector accepts conductors with the required 1.5 mm² cross section.

Two separate gigabit controllers, Intel i210 and Intel i219, manage the network ports and provide hardware support for time-sensitive Ethernet protocols. Four USB sockets comply with the USB 2.0 standard and provide bus-powered connectivity for service tools or removable data-logging media. Legacy serial integration remains possible because one DB9 connector uses the RS-232 signaling format to communicate with barcode scanners, weighing scales, or older PLCs. During normal operation, the power-status circuit draws 0.5 A, which can be considered when sizing a UPS backup system. Status contacts inside the power block report the operating state to external monitoring relays.
