The C6240-1016 industrial PC is produced by Beckhoff within the C6 Industrial PC Units series. Designed as a 19-inch control computer for control-cabinet installation, it supplies processing power for PLC logic, motion sequences, and SCADA data collection on automated lines. The unit anchors the control layer by combining standard PC architecture with expansion slots for dedicated fieldbus, vision, or measurement cards. By consolidating processing, display output, and network interfaces, it reduces the footprint of separate controllers and operator terminals in industrial automation.

The enclosure is 430 mm wide, 170 mm high, and 274 mm deep, allowing the PC to fit shallow control racks while still accommodating its card-cage clearances. A protection class of IP20 indicates that the electronics are guarded against solid objects larger than 12 mm but require a closed cabinet for protection from splashing water. Internally, the motherboard offers 7 free PCIe or PCI slots for additional motion controllers, fieldbus masters, or data acquisition boards. Each card mates with connectors that have five contacts spaced 5 mm apart, and the wiring harness accepts conductors as small as 1.5 mm². A single RS-232 port serves legacy serial devices, while two DVI connectors and one DisplayPort connector support operator panels or diagnostic displays.

Two gigabit controllers provide machine network access through dual RJ-45 sockets. Support for 10/100/1000BASE-T enables mixed-speed segments and straightforward connections to managed switches. Four front-panel USB 2.0 ports provide plug-and-play connections for service keyboards, removable media, or touchscreen controllers, eliminating the need for internal hubs. For operator diagnostics or data logging in humid production areas, the electronics tolerate ambient humidity up to 95%, provided condensation is avoided. Three stereo audio jacks provide line-level interfaces for alarm buzzers, headsets, or voice-prompt modules without requiring an additional sound card.
