The AM8553-0G21-0000 is a synchronous servo motor manufactured by Beckhoff for the AM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It converts electrical energy from a servo drive into controlled motion and torque, enabling accurate positioning and speed regulation in equipment such as pick-and-place arms, packaging stations, CNC auxiliary axes, and other coordinated machine modules. In closed-loop operation, the motor supports repeatable starts, stops, and speed changes while maintaining stable motion through frequent cycle changes.

The motor's brake circuit runs on 24 VDC, letting it connect directly to common control-cabinet supplies. Power and feedback lines exit through a rotatable angular connector, and an optional terminal box can be used when a different cable arrangement is needed. Position is reported by an OCT multi-turn feedback device that retains absolute counts over multiple revolutions. A 104 mm flange follows IEC mounting dimensions for compatibility with standard machine interfaces. The rotor has a smooth shaft, which suits shrink-fit or collet couplings where keys are undesirable. Internally, the rotor uses an increased mass moment of inertia, which helps reduce speed ripple when the axis drives loads with fluctuating torque demand. Winding code G indicates the electrical resistance and inductance values used with compatible Beckhoff AX drive controllers.

An integrated holding brake keeps the shaft locked during power loss or safety stops. It can generate 9 Nm to 20 Nm holding torque, depending on the selected motor length, so vertical loads can remain secure without external clamps. The mechanical stack identified by overall length code 3 balances thermal capacity with installation depth and supports continuous-duty operation in a compact housing. This layout is useful on vertical axes and indexing stations that must hold position when drive power is removed.
